The Journaults :: Family

November 27, 2013

A little bit about me for those that don't know me personally: I love being around my family. I genuinely enjoy spending time with them and would rather spend time with them than a lot of people.

It's because of that that Brandi and I felt right at home with this beautiful family. The Journaults invited us out to their little piece of paradise and with every trail, corner and hill I was more and more taken aback by the beauty that we live in. We ended up on a hill overlooking gorgeous golden trees and a small body of water. I'm not too sure there's anything prettier than the fall time…well maybe except for the frosty trees! hahaha.

Journault family, thank you so much for allowing Brandi and I the utmost privilege of spending an evening with you guys. You truly are one of the most humble families we've had the honour of working with. Your love for one another is palpable. You are one unbelievably beautiful group of people! Enjoy your images! :)

Sheila :: Beauty

November 26, 2013

This was such a fun session to be a part of! I had never done a Beauty or Glamour session, but always wanted to do one. Needless to say, when Sheila contacted me inquiring about one, I got more than a bit excited. The incredible Lise from Hair & Make-Up by Lise came on board, and I knew our evening was going to be perfect.

The sun was warm and shining, and made the trees look golden. The farm that we shot at was incredible with treasures hidden around every corner. We even survived a near prairie chicken attack.

Sheila, thank you so much for taking a chance on me and coming out to play. Your beauty is more than skin deep. You're kindness, patience and generosity is unmatched and I'm so thankful that our last minute scheduling worked out the way that it did. You have one of the biggest and most welcoming hearts I have ever met. You're such a treasure!

P.S. At her shoot, we kept saying she looked just like a young Farrah Fawcett. Then when I was going through her images, I kept getting a lot of Marilyn Monroe. What's your take?

The Cousins :: Family Time

November 25, 2013

We don't live close to any of our family, so when we get to spend time with family, it's always so much fun. We always leave looking forward to the next time we will see them.

A little bit ago, our cousin Carly asked us if we would come and do a session for her and her family. Needless to say, as soon as I read the email I was on the phone trying to arrange a weekend that would work with everyone. It was supposed to work out as a mini family reunion with my parents and both sisters coming for the visit as well, but thanks to a pesky sidewalk that jumped out of nowhere (hahaha), my parents stayed home and so it was just the Mercer girls heading out west.

While we were there we did a mini session with Carly's brother Nathan and his wife Jacey who were expecting their newest addition and grabbed a few quick photos of their youngest Finn for his 18 month old photos. Since then, Jacey had a beautiful baby girl Elowyn. Stay tuned for those pictures! :)

Thank you so much for having all of us! We all came away from the weekend feeling so blessed to be able to call all of you our family. It was exactly what we all needed and I can't wait for our next visit. Love you guys!

First up, here's Carly and Mike and their family:

And now it's Nathan and Jacey's turn:

(Oh and I have to throw these two beauties in for good measure…)

The Massons :: Family

November 15, 2013

Oh this family. I loved working with such a beautiful, humble and growing family.

We met up with Mike and Candi and their two gorgeous kiddies, Zoey and Rider, on a beautiful autumn evening. There was a bit of nervousness on my part as I was afraid all those golden leaves would have disappeared, but nope. Mother nature held out for us.

Mike and Candi, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your family stole my heart and I can't wait to see how your kids grow and their personalities develop even more. Zoey, you're hilarious and I pray you don't lose your curiosity and your friendliness. You are probably the most outgoing little girl I've ever met. Rider…oh Rider! You are as cool as a cucumber and your eyes would melt even the hardest of hearts. Mike and Candi, I love the love you have for one another. A love like yours is truly a treasure and the way you are raising your family is so beautiful!
