I just got back from a visit to my parents where it was put on my heart that our time together is not very long and we need to embrace and live in the moments we have together. We need to look at our own families and see where our "crazy" is and laugh at it...we all know it's not going away and that each family has it. We need to forgive past indiscretions (again, every family has them) and move on. If they don't want to move on with you, that's fine. But pain and anger only makes the hurt ones angry. We need to celebrate the birthdays and anniversaries while they're still happening because one day they'll end. And don't forget about the everyday things. Love the people around you!
It was such an honour to be asked to go to my friend Tracy's parents home on their 40th wedding anniversary and document their long lasting marriage and the family they've raised and watched grow. There was a lot of rain on the day we went out to their place and when Brandi and I got there Tracy's parents, Linda and Ted told us that it had to rain on their anniversary because it rained on their wedding day too! They say that rain on a wedding day is actually good luck because a wet knot is stronger and can't come untied like a dry knot can.
If rain is what has made their 40 year union a success, then I pray for rain on all weddings (but not through the photos...hahaha). They have a beautiful family to show for their years together. It was so much fun to sit back and watch them joke with one another. I can't say thank you enough for having us out to capture your family. Even though it rained, your love and laughter shined through! Everyone was such good sports with the weather and I am so very thankful to have been a very small part of your day. I hope you enjoy your images as much as I do!
