The Bordeleau's :: Family

August 26, 2013

Oh my gosh, I love this little family! With parents like Keith and Becky, their little Reagan was destined to be a munchkin with a big heart and warm smile.

Reagan did not disappoint during our session. She was such a trooper in dealing with the heat and huge mosquitos and ants that decided to follow us everywhere we went.

Thank you Bordeleau family for having Brandi and I out to capture your wonderful family. I am so thankful that I was referred to you!! The way that you two demonstrate teamwork in parenthood is admirable, and the way that you love one another in the quiet moments is beautiful. Your friendliness and kindness is only second to your gorgeousness. Please enjoy your images!

The Lafortunes :: Family

August 25, 2013

I was contacted a while ago by Raeah, who along with her sister Sarah, wanted to organize a family session for their parents. They said when they were younger they would regularly get family photos done, but like so many families as the kids get older and lives get busier, those regular sessions are pushed to the back burner.

I'm so glad the girls decided to do that for their parents! It's so important to do these sessions with families, even if the kids aren't really kids anymore. Families still change at that age, and it's important to capture that moment in time before the change happens.

Marcel, Debbie, Sarah and Raeah: Thank you so much for having me out to capture your family at your amazing home. Your kindness and gentleness is incredibly beautiful and is only equal to how much you love one another! I enjoyed our session together and am so thankful for our time together. You guys were incredible and cranked out gorgeous image after gorgeous image in record time. I hope you enjoy this sample of your images as much as I do!!

Michelle + Duane :: Engagement

August 23, 2013

Getting to photograph people is only a very small part of being a photographer. We invest time and energy into the people that bless us by allowing us the privilege to be a part of their lives. Sometimes it's easier said than done to create a connection with them from behind the camera.

In the case of Michelle and Duane, both Brandi and I knew we'd have so much fun with them from the minute we met them. These two people LOVE one another. It's palpable when you spend time with them. Their love is more than chemistry and sparks. It's a deeply rooted respect and admiration for one another. A love that will definitely age and grow into a lifetime together. It's a love that people spend their whole lifetime looking for, and one that everyone should work towards.

Michelle and Duane, thank you so much for letting us be a part of your big day. I know you're day is going to be so beautiful, celebrating the start of a HUGE life together. Much love friends!

Many thanks to the beautiful Bonne Nuit bed and breakfast in Smoky Lake for allowing us to play there, as well as Hair & Make Up by Lise for her unbelievable talents! To see more of Michelle and Duane's engagement photos and to learn more about them, go HERE! :)

Bailey :: Grad

August 21, 2013

Oh boy...here come the water works. Our little Bailey is all grown up!

I should correct myself...our Bailey, meaning one of my five nieces that I love to the heavens and back. She's been living with us finishing her last year in school and entering the "real world". Please excuse my mushiness from this point forward in an open letter to my Bailey.

Dear Bailey,

I remember sitting with you on one of your very first nights with us talking about the year and saying, if we get to grad then this year is going to be a success, and...

We did it!! There were times over the past year that made all of us think we wouldn't get to this point, but we did it. All the hard work, tears, laughter, me trying to convince both you and Brandi how cool I am and you guys convincing me I'm not really THAT cool, and all the nagging and encouraging (hopefully more encouraging than nagging) has paid off. You did this Bailey.

You should be proud of yourself. We all are. You have shown a responsibility and maturity that I know the average 17 year old doesn't have. You would much rather shine the light on someone else than take any credit for what you've done on your own.

Remember to take care of yourself Bailey. You're loyalty is your most admirable quality. I think sometimes such intense loyalty comes at a cost to the person, so remember to try stepping out on your own now and then. Life might surprise you and show you something new you didn't already know.

You will always be the little girl in the skater shoes and skirt jumping in the leaves to me. The one who didn't want her hair brushed or put in a pony tail. You will never be an adult to me and that's something that one day you'll love.

We love you Bailey, more than you know, and are so excited to see what this life has in store for you.

Love,
Auntie Amy

And on a side note I have to add...this was such an incredible day for both Brandi and me. Not only did we get to celebrate Bailey's milestone, but we got to do it with her mom, dad, mossom, kokum and her sisters.

Oh her sisters. I love you girls...I could never put into words how much you mean to me. I'm so thankful that you are in this world and no matter where you are, you all are forever in my heart. Love you to the heaven's and back!
