Bailey + Chance :: Maternity

February 22, 2013

Sometimes in life things align so well, that you can't help to believe that they were meant to be.

It was about a month ago, when I was contacted by Chance's sister, Karlene, about the possibility of doing a maternity session for her brother and sister in law, Bailey. I jumped at the chance as I had gone to school with Karlene from elementary school all the way to graduation and can remember Chance when he was knee high to a grasshopper...wow that phrase doesn't make me sound like I should be retiring.

Anyways, I contacted Bailey to arrange a time when we could meet up. Between work schedules and wanting her belly to be as round as possible, that left us to 10 days before her due date. Yup...10 days. I like to be wild like that. Oh and let's not forget the crazy Alberta weather in February. In the end we had nothing to worry about. Baby was still snug as a bug with mum, and the weather was GORGEOUS...like above zero gorgeous. The next day however can only be summed up to one word: BLIZZARD. :)

Bailey and Chance, thank you so much for allowing Brandi and me to come and capture the love that you already have for your little one. Bailey, you're incredibly beautiful inside and out. Your gentleness and peacefulness makes you a natural mother and your babe is so blessed to be coming into your life. Chance, your sense of humour will get you far in fatherhood. Thank you so much for going along with our ideas and for taking your socks off when you were asked. I hope you didn't get too cold. ;) I can't wait to see if you two have a boy or girl but one thing I know for sure is that the little person will be very very loved.

Here are a few of my favourite images from our session. Enjoy!

And a special thank you goes to Karlene and Jordan for opening their home to us for this incredible session! :)

Rock the Dress Valentine's Benefit Gala :: Photobooth

February 14, 2013

Back in the fall, the little town that we call home was rocked by an unbelievable tragedy. Since that horrible day, our town has been on a journey of coming together and learning how to take care of one another and move on but never forget what happened and how life is so precious.

In the aftermath three wonderful ladies stepped up and decided to hold a fundraising gala to support three very important organizations: the Pink Heart Campaign, Stollery Children's Hospital, and Racette school. They wanted their event to be formal so they decided to have a "Rock the dress" theme. Women were asked to wear their wedding, bridesmaid or grad dresses and the men came in their classiest suits, all to enjoy an evening of entertainment, auctions and (this is where I come in) a photobooth! After months of preparing, last Saturday the night finally came. It was a HUGE success, raising over $20,000 for the three charities.

Leslie, Roseann and Lise, thank you so much for asking us to play a small part in the evening. You three ladies came together and pulled off a night that so many of us will never forget. I can't tell you how happy I am that we got to be there and capture some of the fun. You all are so amazing and deserve to be applauded. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Here are just a few of my (MANY) favorites from the photobooth!

And yes, I had two incredibly lovely assistants that night: Andrea and Brandi. You girls rocked it, I couldn't have done it without you!!

(Like we could have stayed out of the photobooth!!)

I have to send a huge thank you to Kyla from Pink Tie Affair Wedding & Event Decor for the awesome backdrop for the photobooth, not to mention the incredible work she and her team put together in the hall! Check her out here!

Have a wonderful weekend my friends! :)
