Shine :: Lori and Aaron

December 10, 2011

I have had the privilege of knowing Lori and her son Aaron for a few years now. They are so much fun to be around, so when she called and asked if I would be available to meet with them, I jumped at the chance.

It's always a bit of a different situation when I work with people I know. Quite often they feel embarrassed posing and acting cheesy in front of me. But if there are two things I know, they are 1. I feel just as awkward as they are feeling and 2. Cheesy is my middle name.

To say that Lori and Aaron's shoot was a blast would be an understatement. Seriously. They kept both myself and my sister/assistant on our toes and no one had anything to worry about feeling embarrassed about.

Thank you to two wonderful people that shared their afternoon with us! You guys rocked it out! :)

Then They Do :: The Bergeron & Swonek Families

December 4, 2011

It's always a treat when a client refers you to someone they know...it's even sweeter when it's a family member. :)

I met up with Adam, Chantelle and Bowdie and Joey, Cheryl, and Kaylie a few weeks ago at the St. Paul Museum. Chantelle and Joey are cousins of the lovely Bergeron family that I've worked with twice now.

If anyone has not visited the museum, please go and check it out in the summer when they open up again. We were so lucky to have the wonderful ladies open it for us for the afternoon. It was so much fun and a great way to stay out of the bitter cold.

Adam, Chantelle, Joey, Cheryl, Kaylie and Bowdie...thank you for giving me the chance to spend an afternoon with all of you. It was a delight in so many ways. It was so nice to put names to faces and to get to know one another a bit better. I hope your dad loves the photos, I know I do.

You are a gorgeous family, inside and out.

Follow Me There :: The Bergeron Family

November 19, 2011

It is with great excitement that I'm finally able to post this session! :)

I met with the Bergeron clan a few weeks ago. You might remember the family from a session I did with them last year. The kids wanted to surprise their parents with some family photos for Christmas. Their first session was on a very snowy, cold day and I'm happy to say there was no snow on the ground for their session this year, but it was chilly to say the least! It was a pleasure to work with them again and to include Mr. and Mrs. B this time around!

Bergeron family, I love you. I really do. You are incredible people that are so inviting and down to earth, not to mention GORGEOUS! Thank you times a million for letting me come back to work with you and for always putting up with crazy weather with nothing less than a smile. You are wonderful and make my job so incredibly easy.

Kickin' With You :: The Burton Family

November 2, 2011

It was a blustery autumn day when I met up with Mike, Sarah, Grace and Hannah for some photo fun. For those who have been checking up on me here, you might actually remember Grace and Hannah from the session I did with them last year.

Sarah decided to amp this year's session up a bit by including herself and her husband, Mike. I am so glad she was able to talk him into it!!

I love this family...for so many reasons. Not only did Sarah trust me enough last year to go out on a limb and get me to do her girls' photos when I had never booked a session before, but she boosted my confidence to come back this year. Thank you Burton family for gifting me with that. Oh and to top things off, Mike is the brother of one of my BFF's. So yeah...I totally love them. :)

Mike, Sarah, Grace and Hannah...I hope you enjoy your photos. It was an adventure between the wind and slurpees. I love getting to do this with you guys. AND I love the way your images turned out.

I hope you do too!!

This is Home :: The Nurkowski Family

October 30, 2011

I am so glad I'm finally able to post this family session! :)

Although I'm glad to post this, there is a part of me that is so sad too. This family session marks the end of my scheduled sessions in Slave Lake for families affected by the wildfires. When I first started the sessions in the summer I went into it thinking that (and I hope no one takes this in an arrogant way) I was going to be helping the families in a very small way. It turns out, they helped me out way more than the other way! Not only have I booked more sessions than ever before, but they have given me an opportunity to keep things in perspective.

If anyone has any opportunity to go to Slave Lake and help families affected (trust me there's plenty of opportunity to help out!!), do it. You won't regret it. The strength that the families demonstrate will definitely make you think twice about taking things for granted in your own life.

I think these sessions ended perfectly. Having a personal connection with them (Kelly works with my dad), I was somewhat nervous. I had no reason to be.

Calvin, Kelly, Tyson and Sarah...again I can't say thank you enough for letting me come and hang out with you guys for a bit. You have a beautiful property and I enjoyed exploring it with you guys. You guys have the rare ability at setting people at ease and I appreciated it more than you will know. You guys are beautiful outside and in, and I hope your photos reflect that.

Thank you so much Nurkowski family!! :)
